Cost of Iraq, Afghanistan and Enhanced Base Security Since 9/11
Amy Belasco (au)
From the 9/11 terrorist attacks until Oct. 2005, the Admin. has allocated a total of about $357 billion for military operations, reconstruction, embassy costs, and various foreign aid programs in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for enhanced security at defense bases. In addition, DoD will need additional funds to cover the rest of 2005. Contents: (1) Defense and Foreign Operations Funding: Difficulties in Tracking Defense Spending; Issues for Congress; (2) Costs by Mission: Iraq, Afghanistan and Enhanced Security; and (3) Assessing and Predicting War-Related Costs.
