Description
Each year thousands of children are subjected to violent crimes such as sexual abuse and kidnappings. The U.S. Dept. of Justice (DoJ) considers protecting children from victimization a top priority. The FBI is the DoJ’s primary component that investigates crimes against children, primarily through two major investigative units: the Innocent Images National Initiative Unit, and the Crimes Against Children Unit. This audit examined the FBI’s efforts to address various crimes against children such as: (1) cyber-based child pornography; (2) child abductions; and (3) non-cyber sexual exploitation of children. Charts, tables and graphs.
