Description
In Aug. 2005, Hurricane Katrina caused more damage than any other single natural disaster in U.S. history, with Hurricane Rita adding to the devastation. FEMA provided many affected households with trailers for temp. housing in LA and MS. Those trailers not placed on homeowners' property were located in group sites (GS). GS should have been located near existing supermarkets, public transport., schools, and health care facilities, but the agency was not always able to locate temp. housing in these settings. This report addresses these questions: (1) What is known about the no. and location of the GS and their residents? (2) What did the fed. gov’t. do to assist GS residents with employ., services for families with children, and transport.?
