Peter Mell (au); Tiffany Bergeron (au); David Henning (au)
NIST promotes the U.S. economy & public welfare by providing technical leadership for the nationís measurement & standards infrastructure. This report provides guidance on creating a security patch & vulnerability management program & testing the effectiveness of that program. Proactively managing vulnerabilities of systems will reduce or eliminate the potential for exploitation & involve considerably less time & effort than responding after an exploitation has occurred. It is recommended that all org. have a systematic, accountable, & documented process for managing exposure to vulnerabilities through the timely deployment of patches.
