Description
The Improper Payments Info. Act requires all Fed. agencies to calculate the amount of erroneous payments in Fed. programs and to periodically conduct detailed assessments of vulnerable program components. This study of the Family Day Care Home (FDCH) component of the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) conducted a program assessment for producing a national estimate of the share of CACFP FDCHs that are misclassified into the wrong reimbursement tier. Misclassifications translate into improper payments because misclassified FDCHs do not receive the appropriate level of reimbursement for the meals and snacks provided to the children. Almost 2% of all FDCH homes had a procedural misclassification.
