Book of Navy Songs (rev., repr. ed.)
Kleber S. Masterson, Jr. (in)
A collection of the most typical & popular songs sung by the officers & men of the U.S. Navy, it is a musical history of our Navy from its birth down to the present day, from early American clipper ships to modern warships. This collection is a musical “Bible” for the midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy; the first section of the book is devoted to their music. The second part of the book, “Wardroom Songs,” is arranged chronologically, from the shanties of the sailing days to the songs of the post-World War II era. An attempt has been made to include only those songs which are currently popular -- those which might be heard wherever a few Navy men gather about a piano or “uke.”
