Augustine on the Sunday Gospel
John E. Rotelle
This book is a reflection on the Sunday gospel by Saint Augustine of Hippo. Compiler and editor John E. Rotelle amassed a good number of texts from Augustine to accompany the gospel passages. He tried to limit each Augustine commentary on the gospel to two or three pages. At times Rotelle allowed longer texts because of the beauty or importance of the entire selection, for example, Good Friday, Year A. You can read this book as it is laid out, that is, Sunday after Sunday, in preparation for preaching or reflecting on the Sunday gospel, or you could use the selections to read, reflect, and pray at any time. In these passages you will find a very engaging Augustine who places all emphasis on the power of Godís word, sacred scripture, and the work of the inner teacher. Includes a ribbon.
