Arms Control OPSEC: Preparing U.S. Facilities for On-Site Inspections
Barry Leonard (ed)
Many international arms control treaties & agreements allow the States Parties to verify compliance to reduce the threats posed by conventional, chem., bio., & nuclear weapons. Compliance verification activities include: submitting data declarations to other States parties or to an international treaty implementation org.; &/or hosting & conducting on-site inspections, monitoring missions, & observation over-flights. A wide range of facilities are impacted by these activities. Clearly, the physical presence of a foreign inspection team during an on-site inspection creates security challenges that cannot be met by traditional operations security (OPSEC) measures alone. The arms control OPSEC process augments traditional OPSEC measures. Illustrations.
