Description

The Interagency Forum on Child and Family Stat. develops priorities for collecting data on children and youth, improve the reporting and dissem. of info. on the status of children to the policy community and the general public, and produce more complete data on children at the State and local levels. It fosters coord., collab., and integration of Fed. efforts to collect and report data on conditions and trends for children and families. This report presents key indicators grouped by the seven sections identified in the restructured 10th anniversary report (2007): family and social environment, economic circumstances, health care, physical environment and safety, behavior, education, and health. It incorporates several modifications that reflect the Forum’s ongoing efforts to improve its quality and comprehensiveness: updates to data sources and substantive expansions or clarifications have been made for several indicators; a regular indicator on adolescent depression has been added, addressing an ongoing data gap on the mental heath of children; and a special feature, Children with Special Health Care Needs, has been included. Extensive charts, tables and graphs.
